The Elkcloner is the experimental and chemical sound from the mind of a film composer. That man being Serbian native, New York resident Filip Mitrovic. You can view his music video of his single crossfire here.
Now what makes this sound so exciting for us is how Filip’s chemical composition when altered with fellow Serbian Neki Stranec’s Moombahton styling-is a remix that literally makes you want to throw your panties off. Its that hot !
Everyone’s favourite crunk gypsies just released their new album ‘Elektrafone’ today. I saw them smash crowds at a few festivals this summer… Looks like they collaborated with some other heavies as well (like the Glitch Mob and Ill Gates). AND some Vancouver representation by The Tailor. Check out the tuneage below!
Musical pioneer Cheb i Sabbah was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 stomach cancer. He was advised that the cancer was spreading to his liver and left lung and that time was not on his side. Like many Americans, “Chebiji” – as he is affectionately known – does not have health insurance. Due to his weak health condition, Chebiji found himself having to cancel live shows, meaning his income stream has come to a complete halt, with mounting medical bills and future medical costs ahead.
Upon learning of his condition, a few close friends and artists have come together to rally around Chebiji and assist him with his fight. Devastated by the news and outraged that an artist of Chebiji’s caliber cannot afford to care for himself and receive the proper urgent medical treatment needed, we have set up a fund to help.
THE IMPACT
Sabbah’s influence on the global electronic music and DJ scene cannot be over estimated. He has shown two entire generations that classical world traditions can blend beautifully and respectfully with DJ Culture. Thousands have experienced his music and artistic vision through his many albums and on his dance floors – whether in Goa, Essaouira, Moscow or at Nickie’s, where he ran an eighteen year San Francisco weekly residence, we know what a beautiful gift Chebiji has been to the world at large. This is our opportunity to give something back to Cheb i Sabbah in his time of need
WHAT WE NEED
We have identified a cancer clinic in Germany that is ideally suited for Chebiji’s condition and age. We estimate a treatment and recovery period of one year during which time Chebiji will be unable to work. Our projected costs for his treatment and household expenses during the treatment and recovery period is $45,000. We hope to raise $20,000 through private donations, benefit shows and benefit albums/remix albums. We turn to you, the friends and fans to help us raise another $25,000. The breakdown of monies needed is as follows:
1. Cancer Treatment inclusive of airfare and lodging: $27,000
2. One Year of Fixed Expenses (Rent/Storage/Electric ): $18,000
PLEASE NOTE: Even if the initial goal of $25,000 is met before the deadline of August 15, 2011, you may continue to donate in order to help Chebiji reach the overall goal of $45,000.
HOW ELSE YOU CAN HELP We ask all of Chebij’s friends and fans to help spread the word about his condition via all social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook).
Holy shittttt! Alright so this album called ‘Cannibal Courtship’ just landed on my desk and what can I say! I am in awe. They call themselves Dengue Fever and psychedelic Cambodian music belongs to them. Vintage 60′s organs and seductive khmer vocals will hit you right between the eyes! peep this killer tune.
Two ridiculous good remixes have crossed our path over the last couple of days – both celebrating these historic days in Egypt. We pray that the spirit of the Egyptian people, and the spirit in these tracks, paves the way for peace and freedom in the Middle East…
Thanks to our friends at Global Noize, here’s one from Natacha Atlas:
Kush blows our minds – ever since the early wacko underwater bhangra experiments. Through the deep dark dancehall. And now, straight up tropical bliss. This ishq is the bomb – download and get low…

As you should be aware by now Darkstar released their album NORTH last month and its been met with great praise by the blogosphere BUT we got a special unreleased version of GOLD. I first heard of Darkstar’s title track GOLD last year in December and fell in love with it because it had this funky dark groove reminiscent of the 80′s but brought back into 2010 with a futuristic robotic twist. Well it just so turns out that the version I have is not the version they released. So enjoy this one its way cooler!

When the first TRON film was released in 1982 pioneer electronic musician Wendy Carlos wrote the entire musical soundtrack. Wendy first came to recognition in the 60′s when she started recording with a fairly unknown instrument called a ‘Moog Synthesizer’ and would later lay the foundations for ambient electronica as a genre. So when it came time for the 2010 TRON sequel the calibre of talent required to write the soundtrack had to be as unique, trail blazing and forward as when Wendy Carlos was first commissioned. The Answer ? DAFT PUNK! check the sneak preview its genius !
In case you missed out on the big celebratory news! MAN RECORDINGS is 5 years old now. And to commemorate this milestone of trail-blazing MAN RECORDINGS has released a compilation titled ‘VALEU’. I’ve had this on heavy rotation on my ipod for past month now and the quality of the music your getting is seriously the best dance music out in the world right now.
Saw ‘Holy Fuck’ live last night and what a cool electronic rock show it was. For the first 1/2 hour of their set everyone was like zombies fixated on the electro wizardry of ‘Holy Fuck’ and gradually it built up to a RIOT! definatlty one of the most interesting and fun live shows i’ve seen in awhile because of the fusion of improvised electronic melodies and rock vibe. Whats even more impressive is the dots I am beginning to connect with the label behind this band. Young turk Records out of London are the same people who brought you the XX and El Guincho whom recently we blogged about here. Watch out for this label because their roster so far is brilliant.
So as I was saying the show turned into a RIOT! especially once they dropped their electro funk ‘Red lights’ tune. It was an all out mosh-pit and the chaiwalla was right in the middle of it all!
…….and then the ENCORE! you know that shocking emotion when you see a train crash happen and with a wide eyed expression your like ‘HOOOOOLLLLY FUCCCKK’ haha well yah imagine a crowd of young college kids all screaming that once they finished.
Chilean DJ/Producer Paul Marmota spins UK funky and Afr0-Latin house at clubs in his present hometown of Mexico City. Dropping some serious heat! his slick production brings out the humidity and ancient polyrhythms of tropical landscapes into big room club systems and your guaranteed to jump!
Heres a new track titled ‘Se Nos Va’ that was uploaded yesterday! feel it! cause its hotter then a bull-headed women!
From Cordoba, Argentina ‘Los Reyes De La Milinga‘ are just killing it with their recent remixes of El Dante and Calle 13. Giving these South American Hip Hop superstars a much needed sound-lift by taking the commercial air out of their sound and bringing it back to the FILTHY BASS HEAVY UNDERGROUND!
El Guincho is the recording alias of Spanish musician Pablo Díaz-Reixa. His musical style, influenced by a broad range of artists like Animal Collective and Os Mutantes, relies heavily on the use of sampling and incorporating elements of Afrobeat, dub, Tropicália and rock and roll to create what Díaz-Reixa calls “space-age exotica”. Have no idea what ‘space-age exotica’ is ? watch his new video BOMBAY!
The speed of life and its adventures can take control of us all and its in those blurry moments that we request some downtempo goodness to bring everything back into perspective. So on this Sunday! go ahead and unwind with the pristine production of Peter Pozorek and his track L’Avventura!
Aaaah! I am seriously blown away by this mans tune ‘Kabishi’. From Malakzi, Durban the home of South Africa’s unique house music sound. This is Arnold nkombose Madlala AKA, DJ Nkoh

Zuzuka Poderosa drops Brazilian bred, Brooklyn based swagger like no other. A stylistic blend of Carioca Funk and NYC rumble, giving a breath of fresh air to today’s international music scene. She’s hard to miss with her unapologetic sultry Portuguese lyrics and booty bumping basslines. Its no wonder she packs New York nightclubs like sardines.
‘La Patere Rose’ from Montreal, Canada caught my eye this week. They just released their new EP ‘Waikiki’ but its actually their previous release in 2009 with the same title as the band ‘La Patere Rose’ that did me! and more specifically a tune called ‘L’éponge’. Loving its electronic chill vibe!
Das Racist, who took the music world by storm this past March with their debut mixtape Shut up, Dude, is back with a Mishka, Diplo, Mad Decent andGreedhead Entertainment-presented sophomore release titled Sit Down, Man .
Das Racist has enlisted superproducers Diplo, Boi-1da, Scoop Deville, Devo Springsteen and Dame Greaseas well as collaborations with El-P, Despot,Roc Marciano, Keepaway, Teen Girl Fantasy,Chairlift and Vijay Iyer to make this one of the hottest projects of the year by one of the most sought after unsigned acts in recent years.
Luisa Maita has lured me in over the past few days with her new album Lero-Lero! from start to finish its quite lovely and melodic.
translation of Lero-Lero: “Lero-Lero” is a slang term that translates as an informal, aimless conversation. A deconstructed samba about two friends from a ghetto on the outskirts of São Paulo who have each other’s backs whenever trouble arises.
From Toronto, Canada is where unsigned artist Resolved Dissonance crafts instrumentals that subtly grab your most disguised emotions. This one is a beauty!
Bandish Projekt dropped their highly anticipated ‘Brown Skin Beauty’ EP this week! with remixes from Robert Koch and Liquid Stranger and lyrically laced by ‘Last Mango In Paris’ this is space odyssey you need to take off on!
