Meet my friend B.R.E.E.D, he makes bass-heavy, experimental electronica.
Actually you might know him ?
He’s the Two-Time World DMC Champion in India and also works under the alias DJ NASHA. Is it starting to bring back great some great musical memories now ? like that Jalebee Cartel Remix he did for the Nu Asian Soundz compilation which climbed to the top 10 charts on Beatport. So, anyways, B.R.E.E.D a.k.a Nasha just released a new single today and its massive. With two bass rattling tunes that will make your ears pop its my new purchase of the week.
Remixed exclusively for the BBC Friction show , this is Liquid Stranger remixing “Dhaaru Pee Ke” by Specialist & Truskool. Its dark, ugly and your medicine for the weekend.
Imagine Grand Theft Auto but in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Your goal is simple, work the underground and get paid. First you gotta find an Auto Ricksaw driver and at gun point instruct him to drive you around town or you’ll blow his brains out. Next its off to Dhaka National Bank Limited, where you hold everyone up like a deranged mental lunatic waving a pistol. Strike fear, grab cash and GO! if your too slow you’ll have to deal with the corrupt cops. Getting caught isn’t an option but going faster is!
Architecture is the buzz word today and in the process we will tie in current affairs with music. The first topic on hand is Narcotecture or Poppy Palaces, which are sprouting up all across the western Afghan city of Herat. So how did the name Narcotecture come about ? well the money building these homes comes from the bustling heroin trade and like any stereotypical drug lord they pick smoked glass work, pillars and swimming pools as the finishing touches. A perfect home for the eccentric Afghani Scarface.
Next up is the Panjabi Architect hailing from Los Angeles, California and much like a true Architect his style is continually evolving. This is the first tune we heard from him way back when myspace was cool. And we love the play on environmental sounds found in the average Panjabi home to the desi funk groove.
Here is some more recent work, transitioning from Experiment-Desi-Funk to Dubstep territory. Wickedness I tell yah ! Mango Pickle by panjabiarchitect
and lastly if your a female vocalist please get in contact with the Panjabi Architect because this will be a massive Ethno-Chill & Break’s tune once laced with a proper asian female vocal. Euphoric ! Flex (Re-Flexed) by panjabiarchitect
His name is Ed Hanley and he began his tabla (north Indian classical percussion) training in Toronto, Canada with Ritesh Das, and has studied with master drummers Swapan Chaudhuri in California and Anindo Chatterjee in Calcutta, India.
Ed’s interests span from Karnatic(south indian) vocal percussion and drumming traditions to conducting Bharatanatyam (classical indian dance). Ed has performed across Canada, and in the USA, Europe and India in a variety of world, jazz and classical settings
We at chaiwallas were caught off gaurd by this brilliant composition he did for a modern dance group titled “Tata Blablabla”, without a question it will get your foot tapping and your head shaking.
“Then Hanley transformed song to spectacle with a brain-liquifying tabla solo, an onslaught of percussive sixteenth notes and syncopated shifts hammered out by his wrists and fingers with such precision that… well, you really had to be there.
Let’s just say that as Hanley’s beat went on, the man on my left purred like a cat savouring a sumptuous can of tuna.”

If we @ Chaiwalla’s Boombox could curate the next Electric Daisy Carnival(above image), then Tatva Kundalini would be headlining and opening with this tune !
